My Thoughts
This book is the author's debut novel and is full of secrets, lies, strong emotions, complicated characters and battles between good and evil. Not only is it action oriented but the whole time you are reading the story will keep your full attention so you do not miss what happens next! The romance that adds edgy spice is a secondary story but in no way detracts from what Cassandra has to face while coming to grips with who and exactly what she really is.
While this is only the beginning of a series it is one that paranormal fans will want more of, especially since the ending of this story leaves so many questions still unanswered for Cassandra.

Since she was 16, Cassie has been Guardian to humans, trying to prevent their deaths and saving their souls from the daemons who want to claim them. When Cassie loses a soul, she is devastated, but what she can't figure out is why or how its happening. The daemons are getting smarter, finding ways to make it nearly impossible for her to save the people in her visions, but its not only the human souls they are after... (I know, that's teasing you, isn't it?) You're just going to have to read the book!
The Characters I really enjoyed the characters. Cassie, although confused and seemingly naive in the beginning really comes into herself and embraces what she has to do in order to get through the mess she has found herself in. While being swayed by daemon magic and feelings of lust towards one hunk of a man, she fights to stay true to herself while falling fast and hard. Hunter and Caleb, I'm going to put these two together because they are both really appealing men. Sexy, swoon worthy and very impulsive. I found myself battling over who was the good guy, who was the bad guy and who I hoped Cassie would end up with. As much as I loved them both, at times I wished Cassie would have kicked them both in the nuts and said, `take a hike!' But...I am very glad she didn't!
The Plot With so many twists and turns I was always left wondering, forcing me to read on and find out, what was Cassie going to do? Who should she trust? And just when I thought I had it figured, another turn of events left me, once again wondering! I love that in a story! Good versus Evil...but who is truly evil?!
The Writing I enjoyed the writing style and found it to be a very easy read, just enough description and action to keep me flipping pages. There was a bit of unnecessary use of names within the dialogue that sometimes brought the story to a halt, but that being my only complaint, this is a great read!
Overall I give this book 4 stars! Great plot, great characters and I can feel an amazing series coming from this! The end left me full of anticipation for the next book and I cannot wait to get my hands on it!

When her visions become unreliable, she finds herself thrust into danger herself. Demons are tracking Cassie, eager to claim her soul and make her one of them. Two mysterious men pop up and her attraction to them is undeniable, but they're surrounded by secrets. As she learns what lies beyond her little world of helping people, she doesn't know who to trust anymore. If Guardians save people from being taken by demons, who's going to save the Guardians from being seduced themselves?
This is the first book in the Fate series, an adult paranormal romance by L.J. Kentowski. I love the world building in this story. There are a lot of books out there about angels and demons, and it's difficult to find one that stands out. This is it. Kentowski puts a new twist on the old tales by adding in the Guardians and Seekers. Legends intertwine and take the reader off in unexpected directions. This is a great set-up for a series.
The writing is clean and the plot exciting, but the reason I can't give the book 5 stars is because I don't like Cassie or Hunter. Cassie is sympathetic at first, but she doesn't grow through the story. Other than what had happened to her and her powers, she's the same person at the end as she was at the beginning. Hunter is a classic Alpha male, and sometimes it's hard to straddle the line with aggressive men like him. He crossed that line a few times, and for me personally, I don't like him for it. Since this is a series, though, there is room for Cassie to grow and for Hunter to be redeemed.
